Have you ever had a question about how to manage your waste but don’t know where to look or who to ask? Well, look no further, Scrapp’s new Scrapp Zero-Waste Champions (SZWC) program has all the answers you need and more.
Through the work here at Scrapp, we have realized there is often a gap between businesses' and customers' knowledge of what happens to waste after it leaves their hands. Scrapp is working to fill this gap by creating the Scrapp Zero-Waste Champion program (SZWC). The SZWC program is an online, collaborative community where members can access various content on all things waste.
Classroom
The Classroom has educational courses that cover topics such as waste management, the circular economy, packaging types, recycling, regulations and policies, and educating your community. The courses are broken down into lesson pages, which dive deeper into sub-topics. For example, the course on Waste Reduction includes lessons on office waste reduction, food waste reduction, purchasing reduction, reusable containers, and opportunities for single-use reduction. These lesson pages contain text, videos, graphics, and images. The courses also include recorded interviews with experts, offering a unique, more profound understanding of the material. In the Classroom, members can work through the courses while tracking their progress and gaining a deeper understanding of the waste stream.
Resources
The SZWC program provides resources, fact sheets, printable signage, and diagrams. Members can share these posters with their co-workers to educate them on the importance of proper waste management. Resources also include educational recycling games, a document of frequently asked questions, and a glossary of terms. The SZWC program goes beyond introductory coursework; it gives members the proper tools to engage their entire organizations and communities in circular economy conversation.
Community
The SZWC program isn’t just an educational platform but also an interactive community where members can engage with each other and Scrapp. Scrapp will regularly share our expertise, resources, tips, and webinars and encourage members to join the conversation. Members can post their questions and thoughts on the community discussion page for Scrapp and other members to read and reply to. One study found that people who feel a sense of belonging are 5.2 times more likely to be engaged. Scrapp hopes to provide members with a community to encourage engagement and learning. Additional courses can be made upon request to adapt to the unique waste needs of different industries.
Office Hours
The SZWC program hosts a weekly opportunity for members to ask questions directly to Evan or Mikey during Ask a Zero-Waste Advisors. This is a live video call, “office hours,” where any member can join to speak directly to our Zero-Waste Advisors to get their questions answered in real-time. We understand hiring sustainability consultants can be expensive, so being able to engage at the fraction level while developing Zero-Waste skills internally can be a significant cost saving. Offering a unique one-on-one educational experience.
Through the SZWC program, Scrapp is working to expand the general knowledge of waste and promote a movement toward zero-waste. This starts with you building your knowledge and engaging in the waste conversation. Book a demo call with a team member today to learn more about the program and begin your zero-waste journey today.
